(Red Deer, Alberta) – Are you an aspiring songwriter looking for a chance to be discovered? Maybe you've written songs before and want to find another way to get involved in the upcoming torch relay? Then we've got the contest for you.
Write a song that celebrates the Olympic torch relay passing through Red Deer. If your song is selected, it will be performed at the Red Deer Olympic Torch Relay Community Celebration to be held in Red Deer on January 15 at Westerner Park.
Songwriters must be Canadian citizens, landed immigrants or residents of Canada.
Songwriters can send an entry form and a CD with a minimum of one song (up to a maximum of three songs), along with a typed lyric sheet, your name, address, telephone number, and email address to:

The song must be original and not published or distributed prior to competition. Songs will be judged equally on originality, lyrics, melody, composition, and on being appropriate for the event, not on recording quality. All entries must be received no later than November 20, 2009. Winners will be notified by phone or email.
