Residential permits remain strong in September

October 1, 2009

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Residential permits remain strong for the month of September and show no signs of slowing down.

There were 201 permits issued at a value of $9.7 million this year compared with 172 permits at $8.1 million last year. Construction of new dwellings in Johnstone Park, Sunnybrook South and Timberlands has assisted in the $1.6 million increase in residential values from September 2008.

The improvement of housing starts is parallel with CMHC’s forecast of a better second half for 2009.

Boosting public building values is a renovation to the Red Deer College Cornerstone Kitchen. A permit was issued to Group 2 Architects at a construction value of $1.4 million.

Monthly permit statistics will be posted on The City’s website at www.reddeer.ca/inspections.
