September 8, 2009
(Red Deer, Alberta) – Red Deer residents are invited to attend the 2009 Alexander Way Arts Festival and Downtown Business Association 25th anniversary BBQ on Saturday, September 19. From noon until 4 p.m., people can enjoy this free, family-oriented festival located at 52 Avenue (between 47 and 48 Street) and in Centennial Park.
Visual and performing artists, feature artists, musicians and local arts organizations will line the street to entertain and delight audiences with their talents and wares. The public can also enjoy interactive art activities, crafts, free face painting by Fantasy Face Paint, and a community barbeque hosted by the Downtown Business Association. The barbeque will run from noon until 2:30 p.m., with a cost of $1 to $2 per person.
As part of the province-wide Alberta Arts Days celebration, the festival is an official “chase place” for the arts race organized by the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery. The public is welcome to enter a “chase team” and complete activities for a chance to win various prizes.
In the case of inclement weather, the Alexander Way Arts Festival will be cancelled; however, the Downtown Business Association community barbeque will still proceed.
