(Red Deer, Alberta) – City census workers are out knocking on doors after the 2010 Municipal Census got underway on Friday, April 9.
“Citizens' participation is necessary in order to get an accurate picture of the number of people living in Red Deer,” said Chris Sisson, Census Coordinator. “Census information isn’t just about numbers; it also helps us better understand community needs and plan for future growth and development.”
Census workers will ask residents about the number of people living in their house, the genders and year of birth of each person in the house and if they are a Canadian citizen.
All census enumerators will carry picture identification cards, and any information given to enumerators is kept completely confidential. Citizens with any questions about the identity of a census worker should phone the City census office at 403-342-8132.
The 2010 municipal census is slated to wrap up April 30. Census results will be released and posted at www.reddeer.ca/census at the end of June.
