Let's Talk Budget

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Citizens who were unable to attend the budget open house on April 14 are encouraged to provide their feedback on The City’s budget by visiting www.letstalkreddeer.ca and participating in our online discussion forum.

“We recognize that open houses are not always convenient for people,” said Charity Dyke, Communications Coordinator for The City of Red Deer. “These online forums provide a different way for people to provide their input when it is convenient for them.”

Let’s Talk Red Deer poses a number of questions similar to those discussed at the public open house and invites users to provide their comments. Users can also view and comment on feedback provided by others.

To sign up and provide your feedback, simply visit www.letstalkreddeer.ca, click on ‘sign up’ and fill in the required fields. Once you’ve completed those fields, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address you entered asking you to click on a link to confirm your registration. You will automatically be logged into the site once you click on the link.

The budget discussion will continue on the Let’s Talk Red Deer site until May 26, 2010, at which time City Administration will compile the comments and bring them forward to Council and Senior Administration for their consideration in the preparation of the 2011 budget.

“This is an opportunity for everyone to have their say into our budget,” said Corporate Services Director Lorraine Poth. “Even if you were unable to attend our budget open house, we still want to hear from you.”
