(Red Deer, Alberta) – Residents of Red Deer and the surrounding area are invited to participate in citizen forums, where they will have an opportunity to discuss what is needed to strengthen individuals, families and communities.
“This is a great chance for the public to get involved and to offer feedback on what they consider to be priorities for social well-being in their communities,” said Scott Cameron, manager of Social Planning with The City of Red Deer. “We’ll be discussing topics for youth, adults, families and seniors, so people will really have an opportunity to establish what’s meaningful to them and what will make our communities better for the future.”
The forums will be led by Red Deer and District Family and Community Support Services (FCSS). This organization serves citizens in Red Deer, Bowden, Delburne, Elnora, Penhold and Red Deer County, including the communities of Springbrook, Spruce View, Benalto and Lousana.
With the overall mandate of enhancing the social well-being of individuals and families, FCSS programs take a proactive approach and promote intervention strategies at the earliest possible opportunities. FCSS programs target children and youth, adults, seniors, families and community development, so a wide range of feedback will be requested at the upcoming forums.
“By gathering input directly from citizens, we’ll be able to learn the unique needs of each community,” Cameron said. “The feedback and recommendations from the forums will then be presented to the FCSS Board for their review and consideration for future programs.”
Citizen forums will be held throughout Red Deer and District on the following dates:
