(Red Deer, Alberta) – Central Alberta residents are invited to put their name forward to sit on the newly expanded Board of Directors for the Red Deer Regional Airport Authority (RDRAA).
The Board of Directors will consist of 12 representatives from the Central Alberta region who will be jointly appointed by The City and the County.
“Historically, the Board has consisted of nine appointed members: three from Red Deer County, three from The City of Red Deer and three from the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce,” explained Todd Newfield, Chairman of the Red Deer Regional Airport Authority. “In February 2009, City Council and County Council approved our request to expand the Board in size and membership make-up. We felt that since this is a regional airport, the Board of Directors should have representation that extends beyond the municipal boundaries of The City of Red Deer and Red Deer County.”
The Central Alberta region extends from the British Columbia and Saskatchewan borders to the east and west, and from Ponoka to Olds to the north and south. Appointments for these positions will be staggered with two-year terms, three-year terms and four-year terms. Preference may be given to applications with experience in air transportation, industry, environment, commerce, finance, administration, law or engineering.
Anyone interested in applying for a volunteer position is invited to submit a letter of interest and their resume by Friday, June 4, 2010 to either The City of Red Deer or Red Deer County. For more information or to apply, contact The City of Red Deer or Red Deer County by visiting www.reddeer.ca or www.reddeercounty.ab.ca.
