(Red Deer, Alberta) – The Red Deer Transit customer service centre will move from the main floor of City Hall to Sorensen Station, the new downtown Transit terminal, on September 1. The Sorensen Station office will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and will offer ticket and pass sales, transit information and a lost and found. Action Bus multi-trip tickets will also be available for purchase at the new location.
“Having the customer service centre in the downtown terminal will provide tremendous value because that’s where the riders are,” said Steve Parkin, Transit Facilities Superintendent. “Customers will be able to purchase tickets or get information on the spot when they get off a bus. Whether customers are facing time constraints or have mobility challenges, the new office will make transactions easier for many people.”
Locating the lost and found at the Sorensen Station customer service centre will also reduce the time delay for those who misplace items on a bus and then return to claim them. “It’s important that the lost and found be in a secure area, which, until now, has been in City Hall,” said Parkin. “With those services all being centralized at Sorensen Station where the buses stop, customers will find it easier to claim their misplaced belongings, too.”
While Transit customer service will leave City Hall on September 1, passes and tickets will continue to be available through City Hall cashiers.
In addition to Sorensen Station and City Hall, the following Transit sales outlets will also continue to sell tickets and passes:
- Bishops Rexall Drugs
- Bower Place Mall
- Fas Gas Plus locations
- Neighbours Petro-Canada
- Parkland Mall
- Red Deer College Students Association
- Rosedale Esso
