Volunteers invited to apply for Red Deer's Centennial Committee
August 13, 2010
(Red Deer, Alberta) – Red Deerians are invited to put their name forward to sit on the Centennial Celebrations 100th Anniversary Steering Committee. The Centennial Celebration in 2013 will provide an opportunity to not only celebrate Red Deer’s past, but also to reference the present and envision the future.
The Centennial Committee will consist of nine representatives from Red Deer and requires three citizens for the committee. The committee will work on funding applications, arranging a promotional campaign and organize and work with the community and City staff to coordinate the events and activities which will be the basis of the Centennial Celebration.
“We see the overall goal of the Centennial Celebration as an opportunity to raise Red Deer’s profile and to enhance a sense of community and civic pride amongst our citizens,” said Sheila Bannerman President, of the Central Alberta Historical Society. “This is a great volunteer opportunity within the community for those that are interested.”
Anyone interested in applying for a volunteer position is invited to submit a completed application form by Friday, September 10, 2010 to Legislative & Governance Services, second floor of City Hall, or by faxing the materials to 403-346-6195.
