City wins international marketing & communication awards
December 22, 2010
The City of Red Deer’s Communications department was honoured for eleven communication initiatives by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professional’s 2010 MarCom Awards, including three awards for The 2009-2011 Strategic Plan.
“The City’s Strategic Plan was developed with significant public, Council and administrative input,” said Craig Curtis, City Manager. “It is exciting that The City has won an award for how they were able to capture and communicate our desired future direction and vision. It is a document that the entire city can be proud of as it helps shape the future for The City of Red Deer.” The Strategic Plan for The City of Red Deer is based on vision driven planning and action driven results. The Strategic Plan informs our major plans and processes, frames our decisions, and provides The City with a direction for the organization and the community.
“We are very proud to have received the eleven awards total. It is validation of our continued commitment to build a collaborative relationship with the community through our communications efforts,” said Communications & Strategic Planning Manager Julia Harvie-Shemko.
The 2010 competition received nearly 5,000 entries from companies throughout the United States, Canada and several other countries. The City of Red Deer was recognized with Platinum Awards for “Staff Forum”, “Inside Out”, "Emergency Hotline Communications Plan”, “Communicating Organizational Change Communications Plan”, “Rise Poster”, and “The Strategic Plan”. The City of Red Deer was recognized with Gold Awards for “The Strategic Plan”, “Tell Them Where to Go”, “Cruisin’ The Parkade”, and “Water Testing Door Hanger”.
The MarCom Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals. The Association oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges and sets standards for excellence.
