Dog licenses for 2011 now available

Dog licenses for 2011 are now on sale, and citizens can renew dog licenses online.

The online feature can only be used when citizens are renewing licenses. All dog owners who registered their pets in 2010 will receive a letter in the mail that contains a personal information number (PIN). This PIN number is required to complete online registration.

“License renewals can still be purchased in person. We have expanded our service to make it simpler and more accessible for all dog owners in the city,” said Stephanie Gramlich, License/Permit Inspector.

First time licenses must still be obtained by visiting Alberta Animal Services, SPCA, One Stop License Shop, Red Deer Registries or the cashier at the counter on the main floor of City Hall. All first time dog owners must complete an application form, which is also available at these locations.

The annual license fee is $26 for altered dogs and $56 for unaltered dogs. An administration fee may apply at some locations.

The 2010 dog licenses are valid until December 31, 2010.
