Downtown Priority 1 and 2 snow removal begins

December 30, 2010

Beginning Sunday, January 2, City crews are removing snow in the Priority 1 and 2 downtown areas to eliminate snow that is stored on medians to make room for future snow storms.

The streets are:

  • 32 Street from 51 Avenue to Spruce Drive
  • 67 Street from 52 Avenue to Pamely Avenue
  • Gaetz and 49 Avenue from 37 Street to 43 Street
  • Bottom of Ross Street Hill
  • 48 Avenue from 43 Street to 55 Street
  • Gaetz Avenue from 52 Street to 46 Street

Motorists are advised to slow down, be patient and use extreme caution when entering a snow removal operation area. Pay attention to directional flashing arrow boards.

A snow and ice control map showing the five priority levels and their corresponding streets is available on the Public Works department page at The City of Red Deer’s website, www.reddeer.ca. The Public Works page also offers information on the Snow and Ice Control Policy, snow removal, sidewalk clearing and snow safety. To report any unsafe roadways, please phone Public Works at 403-342-8238.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
