Red Deer Heritage Recognition Awards Call for Nominations
February 24, 2010
(Red Deer, Alberta) – The Heritage Preservation Committee is once again pleased to sponsor the eighth annual Red Deer Heritage Recognition Awards. These awards are intended to recognize outstanding efforts in heritage preservation within the city of Red Deer and Red Deer County.
“Preserving our heritage can be interpreted in a variety of ways, from recovery and renovation to honouring our heritage spirit,” said Sheila Bannerman, Chairperson of the Heritage Preservation Committee. “Nominations are encouraged from all preservation perspectives, as we want to recognize outstanding contributions to the understanding of our cultural heritage that is unique to the Central Alberta area.
Red Deer Heritage Recognition Awards recognize projects and/or persons who demonstrate excellence in heritage preservation in several categories ranging from advocacy to community revitalization to conservation or preservation of natural or built heritage. A complete description of the award categories is included with the nomination form.
Nomination forms are available for pick up at the Red Deer & District Archives, Red Deer County office or on the county website www.reddeercounty.ab.ca. The deadline for nominations is noon on April 1, 2010, and the Heritage Recognition Award presentation will take place on June 4, 2010.
Red Deer and the surrounding areas have worked hard to protect their heritage and it is proven each year as the distinguished list of nominees grows. The Heritage Preservation Committee is proud to highlight these projects and the volunteers that work to preserve and promote our heritage.
