Veteran parking passes available March 1, 2010

January 6, 2010

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Veteran Parking Passes for veterans will be available on March 1, 2010 at the Royal Canadian Legion. Veterans may pick-up a Veteran Parking Pass application from the Legion or download it from The City of Red Deer website beginning on January 12, 2010.

On November 30, 2009, Council approved free on-street parking for all veterans who display a Veteran Parking Pass. One parking pass per veteran will be issued by the Legion, exempting veterans from on-street parking meter fees, but not parkade or parking lot fees. Veterans must still adhere to all parking signs and regulations, including the time limit specified on the coloured sticker on each meter.

Cities like Grand Prairie, Lethbridge, Prince Albert and Windsor all run similar public parking programs that allow veterans to park free all year.
