(Red Deer, Alberta) – Red Deerians can have their say on The City’s vision for Red Deer’s environmental future until June 27.
The City of Red Deer has taken input from youth and community workshops, stakeholder meetings, the Environmental Advisory Committee, City Council, the letstalkreddeer.ca discussion forum and many other sources to create a vision for our shared environmental future.
Furthermore, six core directions have been identified that will help achieve the vision.
The draft vision and core directions have been posted at www.letstalkreddeer.ca/environment, and Red Deerians are encouraged to view them and provide feedback.
“It’s important that the vision and core directions are meaningful to the diverse population of Red Deer so we have a strong foundation on which to base the rest of the Environmental Master Plan,” said Lauren Maris, Environmental Program Specialist with The City of Red Deer.
After June 27, the feedback will be incorporated, and the revised version will be reviewed by The City’s Environmental Advisory Committee. The EAC will then make a recommendation to Council.
The public will have another opportunity to provide input into the Environmental Master Plan in the fall when the draft plan will be presented online and at a community workshop.
The Environmental Master Plan is being developed to define clear priorities, targets and strategies to achieve a 25-year vision for Red Deer’s environmental future.
