(Red Deer, Alberta) – Contractors working for the City’s Environmental Services Division will be removing the temporary cofferdam along the south shore of the Red Deer River in between Taylor Drive Bridge and the rail bridge. Preliminary work on the cofferdam removal has already started and the main cofferdam will be removed starting on Thursday, April 1 until Friday, April 9. The temporary cofferdam has assisted in the construction of a new river water intake and screen building for the City’s Water Treatment Plant.
Pedestrians and users of the south bank trail and river are asked to use caution in these areas and to keep away from construction equipment and the construction site.
Construction traffic along 54 Avenue and noise in the general area will increase during this project. Area residents, businesses and users can expect higher noise levels during normal work hours. Construction removal activities will continue over the Easter Weekend, excluding Easter Sunday, into the following week.
