May 19, 2010
(Red Deer, Alberta) – On Wednesday, May 19, Red Deer and District Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) will post a request for proposals (RFP) for operational grants that address services or supports for the Aboriginal community.
Programs and services must reflect priorities established by the Aboriginal community through the Common Ground project and the “Charting Our Path” report. They must also meet the FCSS mandate of preventive social services and follow the principles set out in the FCSS Funding Model. The RFP and FCSS funding model may be found at www.reddeer.ca/socialplanning.
The guiding principles of the FCSS funding model that should be reflected in proposals are: (1) risk and protective factors, (2) the settings approach and (3) evaluation; all three can be found in the FCSS Funding model on the website. Programs and services may be provided as direct programming to children & youth, seniors, families or adults, or as indirect services focused on community development.
The deadline for proposals is Wednesday, June 9 at 10:00 a.m. Proposal submissions must include one copy of a completed proposal template, double-sided and not stapled. The proposal must be in a sealed envelope with the applicant’s name and phone number marked on the outside of the envelope, and must be received at:
The City of Red Deer Social Planning office Alexander Way, 4817 48 Street Red Deer, Alberta
An electronic version of the proposal must also be sent via email to Bonnie.Stearns@reddeer.ca. The total funding available for this RFP 2010 is $42,000. An additional $42,000 is available for 2011. Any funding not awarded through this RFP process will be reallocated into other projects that support the FCSS mandate on a broader level.
