City to host citywide Bike Rodeo

May 27, 2010

(Red Deer, Alberta) – The City of Red Deer and Better Biking Red Deer are hosting the annual citywide Bike Rodeo on May 29, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Kinsmen Community Arenas.

Children taking part in the Rodeo finished in the top three of their grade during their individual school Rodeos. This event allows elementary school-aged children to demonstrate both their bicycle skills and their bike safety knowledge in a non-competitive environment.

“This is a terrific event that educates children about the importance of safe cycling and helps them realize that bike safety can be enjoyable,“ said Melanie McIntyre-Scott, Program Leader with The City of Red Deer. “It’s also a fun way to end Bicycle Safety Month.”

This citywide event gives children the chance to work together in fine-tuning their bike safety skills just in time for summer, while hoping to win one of the terrific prizes.

The City would like to extend thanks to the Piper Creek Optimist Club for their sponsorship of the Better Biking Red Deer and the citywide Bike Rodeo.
