(Red Deer, Alberta) – Red Deerians will join a growing number of Albertans in celebrating recreation, parks, and culture opportunities in the community when Recreation and Parks Month kicks off on June 1.
Coordinated by the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association and supported by The City of Red Deer, Recreation and Parks Month promotes recreation, parks, and culture throughout the month of June.
“June is the perfect month to start thinking about the many opportunities we have to enjoy recreation, parks, and culture in Red Deer,” said Greg Scott, Recreation, Parks, & Culture Manager with The City. “Recreation, parks, and cultural programs provide the foundation for a high quality of life, and Recreation and Parks Month celebrates our efforts to build strong families and healthy communities through these programs.”
Though June is Recreation and Parks Month, Red Deerians should take advantage of recreation, parks, and culture opportunities year-round, added Scott. “Recreation, parks, and culture are all essential to personal health and well-being, and by living these things every day, people will continue to reap the benefits even after Recreation and Parks Month is over.”
Throughout the month of June, Red Deerians can share how recreation, parks, and culture opportunities affect their lives every day for a chance to win a recreation and parks prize package worth $1,000. To enter, citizens can e-mail their experiences, along with their names and contact information, to rpc@reddeer.ca.
Recreation and Parks Month is an initiative spearheaded by the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA), a provincial not-for-profit charitable association that is dedicated to promoting the benefits and development of recreation and parks throughout Alberta communities.
