(Red Deer, Alberta) - To raise awareness for Fire Prevention Week, Red Deer elementary school students recently had the opportunity to learn about fire and injury prevention in their home with their school and families.
Students were also given the opportunity to enter a draw at their school for the chance to become “Fire Chief for a Day”. This year’s winner, Brianna VanderVeer of Oriole Park School, will be Red Deer’s “Fire Chief” on May 14 and go home with a new Digital camera.
The media are invited to join Brianna, our Fire Chief for a Day, and Fire Chief Jack McDonald at Oriole Park School at 5 Oldbury Street, on May 14 at 10 a.m. to help celebrate and promote Fire Prevention Week.
A pumper truck will pick Brianna from school and take her to Fire Station #2 for a tour. Brianna will then be brought back to her school, and her class will receive a pizza party to celebrate.
