(Red Deer, Alberta) – The City of Red Deer is hosting an Open House to attain public feedback about the Kin Kanyon Redevelopment Plan, a document that will shape the future of Kin Kanyon Park.
Kin Kanyon, located on Red Deer’s South Hill at 33 Street and 47 Avenue, has been a popular recreation site for residents since it was developed as part of the Waskasoo Park Master Plan in the early 1980s. Kin Kanyon now faces a number of challenges, however, resulting in the need for future redevelopment of the site.
The redevelopment plan that will be presented at the Open House includes proposed amenities for both the upper and lower park areas. Amenities being proposed in the upper area include a new activity centre, a water park, a new ice rink configuration, a picnic area, and increased parking. In the lower area, a new washroom facility, new trails, a group picnic area, and increased day use amenities are being proposed.
Date: Thursday, May 27, 2010 Time: Drop in between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Location: Ecole le Prairie School Gymnasium 4810 35 Street Red Deer, AB
