Residential values remain strong in April

May 3, 2010

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Residential construction remained strong in April, with an increase of approximately $2.1 million in permit values. Single family home starts are the driving force behind the increase in residential development; 51 permits were issued in April at a value of approximately $7.5 million compared to 14 issued last April at a value of only $1.9 million.

Total building values are down from last April due to the slowdown in public (new and renovation) projects, but year-to-date values are similar to 2009 statistics.

A commercial building permit was issued to Fillmore Construction Management Inc. for renovations to Old Navy (200, 5001 19 Street) at a value of $516,882.

Monthly permit statistics will be posted on The City’s website at www.reddeer.ca/inspections.
