The City of Red Deer wants public input on crime prevention and policing in the community as part of the Crime Prevention and Policing Review. There will be multiple opportunities for residents to get involved to provide their input and help develop strategies for crime prevention.
“Everybody wants a safe community and we want to hear the ideas residents have about crime prevention and policing in Red Deer,” said Colleen Jensen, Director of Community Services. “Public input is an important component of this review and I encourage everyone to get involved.”
The City has contracted perivale + taylor Consulting Inc. to conduct a review of crime prevention strategies and policing services in Red Deer. The first phase of the study focuses on collection and analysis of data related to crime and policing in Red Deer. The second phase of the project will focus on defining solutions for the community with input from residents.
“We will be reaching out to resident throughout this project,” Jensen said. “Whether it is online, written feedback or as part of the telephone survey, we want to hear from residents.”
The Crime Prevention and Policing Review will identify crime prevention strategies for the community, best practices for policing services and identify the effectiveness of various policing models in municipal environments.
