Red Deerians encouraged to register for an information session on senior transportation options

October 15, 2010

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Red Deer seniors, and their family and friends, are encouraged to register for Seniors Exploring Transportation Options, an information session that explores transportation options for seniors, on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at the Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre.

Seniors Exploring Transportation Options will feature presentations from a variety of specialists on seniors’ transportation. Whether they are a driver or a passenger, seniors can learn how to maintain their independence and mobility. The session will run from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., and a morning snack and lunch will be provided.

“Our goal is to educate seniors on what transportation options are available to them in Red Deer, and provide them with tips on safe driving and dealing with transition,” said Linda Healing, Social Planning Supervisor - Community Development with The City of Red Deer.

Seniors, and their family and friends, can register at the Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre in person by Friday, October 22. Tickets are $8, if registered by October 22, and $10 at the door.

The session is sponsored by The City of Red Deer, the Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre, and the Alberta Motor Association.
