Celebrate the Official Reopening of the G.H. Dawe Community Centre

September 23, 2010

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Red Deerians are invited to grab their swimsuits and head to the G.H. Dawe Community Centre on Saturday, September 25, 2010, to participate in the Official Reopening festivities. Running from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., the Official Reopening offers everything from free swimming, to Zumba fitness class demonstrations, to a free BBQ.

“We hope Red Deerians, and other Central Alberta residents, will come down Saturday to check out our fabulous facility,” said June Larson, Recreation Facility Supervisor with The City of Red Deer. “The day is packed full of fun activities and swimming. There will be hotdogs and munchies and, best of all, it is all free.”

At 1 p.m., the Official Reopening Ceremony begins. Following the Ceremony, residents can experience free swimming, face painting, arts and crafts, tours, Zumba fitness class demonstrations, and a free BBQ at 2:30 p.m.

In the spring of 2008, the G.H. Dawe Community Centre closed its doors to undergo a large-scale revitalization. On August 3, 2010, the facility reopened with increased dryland space, a revived aquatics centre, including two water slides, a spray park, sauna and steam rooms, and an expanded branch of the Red Deer Public Library.
