(Red Deer, Alberta) – On Saturday, September 18, downtown Red Deer will be alive with music, entertainment and fun, interactive activities for people of all ages. The 2010 Alexander Way Arts Festival is combining with Earthdance from noon until 5:30 p.m. on 52 Avenue (between 47 and 48 Street) and in Centennial Park.
The Alexander Way Arts Festival will feature visual artists including:
- Arnie Handley – demonstration of the pottery wheel
- Anna Carnell – demonstration of stone, glass and fossil mosaics
- Kim Schellenburg – demonstration of large scale mural drawings of the festival site
Entertainment will be provided by:
- Waskasoo Blue Grass Society – music
- Belly Elegance – belly dancing
- Dance Magic - dance
- Red Deer Square Dance Club - dance
- Mahana Polynesian Dance - dance
- Dani-Lynn – singer
- Alecia – singer
- Charile Jacobson – singer
- Alberta Pattern Dancers – dance
- Red Deer Aboriginal Dancers
Earthdance begins at 4 p.m. with a community drum circle followed by the Global Non-Denominational Prayer for Peace at 5 p.m.
As part of the province-wide Alberta Arts Days celebration, the festival is an official “chase place” for the arts race organized by the Red Deer Arts Council.
In case of inclement weather, the Alexander Way Arts Festival will be cancelled.
