Increased flexibility and affordability for recreation facilities
September 21, 2010
(Red Deer, Alberta) – Responding to concerns from the community, City Council has approved changes to fees and charges at City owned and operated recreation facilities. A new multi-admission pass structure will provide increased flexibility and decreased family rates provide increased affordability.
“We heard from many community members as a result of changes to the RPC Pricing Framework,” says Greg Scott, Recreation Parks and Culture Manager. “We believe the changes we’ve made will result in added value to the users.”
A multi-admission pass will now allow holders to access more than one facility. Collicutt Centre Card holders can access all City-owned multi-leisure facilities, thereby eliminating the Unlimited Action Card created on August 1, 2010. The G.H. Dawe Centre Card allows access to all facilities except the Collicutt Centre. The Recreation Centre and Michener Centre cards allow access to both facilities.
Families will experience increased affordability through a decrease in both single admission and multi-admission family rates.
“Activity plays such an important part in the health of a community,” says Scott. “Increasing access provides more opportunities for exercise, leisure and social connections.”
All changes are effective on October 1, 2010.
