BizPaL makes starting a business faster and easier
Edmonton...Red Deer is the most recent Alberta community to launch BizPaL, an innovative online permit and licence service that saves time and paperwork for businesses.
Using BizPaL, entrepreneurs can find information about all the federal, provincial and municipal permits and licences they need to start or expand a business with a simple online search. The service was developed by the federal government and the Alberta government pays the annual licensing fees for municipalities.
“Through Budget 2010, our government is demonstrating a strong commitment to small and medium-sized businesses by improving access to financing, reducing taxes and cutting the red tape that businesses face every day,” said Earl Dreeshen, MP for Red Deer, on behalf of Rob Moore, Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism. “BizPaL is a great example of the government’s hard work to support small and medium-sized enterprises across Canada as they innovate, create jobs and generate wealth in our communities.”
With the addition of Red Deer, the service is now offered in 97 Alberta communities, including Calgary and Edmonton.
“Red Deer is right in the middle of Canada’s leading economic corridor,” said Service Alberta Minister Heather Klimchuk. “BizPaL will strengthen that advantage by making it even more attractive for entrepreneurs looking to start or expand.”
The Alberta government is working with other communities to expand the service across the province. Visit http://www.bizpal.ca/ for additional information and access to the websites of participating partners.
“There are many advantages for businesses in the Red Deer community – it has a young, educated workforce, a convenient central location, and a competitive, business-friendly attitude,” said Mary Anne Jablonski, Minister of Seniors and Community Supports, and MLA for Red Deer-North. “BizPaL gives entrepreneurs one more reason to locate here by letting them focus more on their business and less on red tape.”
“We are thrilled to be able to offer this tremendous program to our business community,” said Red Deer Mayor Morris Flewwelling. “The City of Red Deer is always looking for ways to encourage and support the growth of local business and this tool definitely makes sense.”
Business owners and entrepreneurs can access the service on Red Deer’s website at www.reddeer.ca/bizpal or the Government of Alberta at http://www.bizpal.alberta.ca/.
