Sorensen Station celebrates Official Opening
September 10, 2010
(Red Deer, Alberta) – Red Deer and area citizens are invited to an opening celebration at the Sorensen Station Parkade and Transit Terminal this Saturday, September 11, 2010. Festivities will kick-off at 3 p.m. and run until 5:30 p.m. The opening will kick off with Crusin’ the Parkade and a BBQ by the Red Deer Food Bank BBQ Crue, with all proceeds going directly to the Red Deer Food Bank.
Beginning Monday the parkade will be operational for monthly parking only while we await the arrival of the daily parking equipment,” said Fred Dieno, Parking Coordinator with The City of Red Deer. “We’ve organized this special opening event as a way to show off Sorensen Station to residents and thank them for their patience and support during the construction of the parkade and the transit move.”
Although the parkade is not operational for daily parkers until the equipment has arrived, monthly parkers can begin utilizing the parkade on Monday, September 13, from 6 a.m. through 8 p.m. Any individuals who are interested in obtaining monthly parking can get information at the opening or on our website at
www.reddeer.ca
.
Citizens are encouraged to come out and take part in the celebration, learn about the history behind the naming of the Sorensen Station, and take in the variety of custom and classic cars that will fill the parkade that day.
Residents are reminded that during the opening parking is available on street only; however, parking is free in downtown Red Deer on weekends.
