City crews are working around the clock to ensure your safety on snow covered roads

January 11, 2011

Red Deer is dealing with the results of a major snowstorm from the weekend and City road crews are hard at work plowing and sanding our streets.

“Following our snow and ice control policy, our priorities were clearing hills, bridges, high collision areas, hospital access routes and arterials,” said Jim Chase, Roads Superintendant. “Once those routes were cleared we began work in the downtown area with an ongoing assessment of residential areas.”

As of this morning the following work was completed by City road crews:

  • Crews nearly completed the downtown core with 46 Street and 47 Street remaining

Today crews are working on:

  • Bus route collectors
  • Finishing Kentwood
  • Completing Pines
  • Starting Normandeau

Sanding trucks out responding to complaints and trouble areas within Red Deer and City plows are
