RESCHEDULED - Gaetz Avenue Bridge closed to remove debris under bridge
July 18, 2011
Recent high water in the Red Deer River has resulted in a buildup of large trees and other debris on the concrete piers below the Gaetz Avenue Bridge. In order to remove the debris, Gaetz Avenue Bridge is scheduled to be closed to traffic at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, until Thursday, July 28.
The debris poses a potentially serious hazard and in order to safely and effectively remove the build up of material the bridge needs to be closed while crews work.
Boaters and recreational watercraft users are advised to avoid the area immediately upstream of the Gaetz Avenue Bridge. If travel on the river is necessary, keep to the south side of the river, watch for signage and stay well clear of the concrete piers when approaching the Gaetz Avenue Bridge.
Thank you for your patience while work is completed.
