Project/Initiative:
Implementation of a regional 911 system

Emergency Services was recognized for initiating and implementing a regional 911 system. In May of 1996 Emergency Services began to aggressively market a regional call answer system. In 2003, 44 communities had signed agreements to be a part of this regional system and Emergency Services had reached 125 per cent of their original goal. Emergency Services works with communities on a continuous basis to ensure that the service provided is meeting their needs. Special credit must be given to Gord Stewart, Dan Osborne and the committed staff in the Emergency Services Communications Branch.
