He is renowned at the Collicutt Centre for his professional yet personal touch with customers; going above and beyond is Bryan’s forte. Bryan is a great example of The City’s focus on excellent customer service, not to mention he is a wonderful mentor for staff.

The City of Red Deer's Safety Auditors were awarded top marks from the Alberta Municipal Health & Safety Association for the recent Safety Audit they conducted. Every audit submitted to the AMHSA undergoes a rigid evaluation process to ensure the audit was conducted fairly and properly. The five-person audit team, responsible for ensuring the corporate environment is safe for all staff and customers, earned a score of 99 per cent for the work they did during The City's annual internal Safety Audit.

He is co-founder of a User Group in the Red Deer area, as well as a presenter at various seminars and workshops throughout the year.

Each year the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board is proud to present awards to the top apprentices in each of Alberta's designated trades. This award recognized the apprentice who has the highest combined mark in the final period of apprenticeship training. Jason Richards has been selected as the Top Apprentice in the Power Lineman trade.

The Canadian Electricity Association designated The City of Red Deer's E.L. & P. Department as the Bronze Award recipient of the President's Award for Excellence for Employee Safety. Electric, Light & Power ranked in the top quartile in both"All Injury Frequency" and "Severity Rates" among other organizations in its group. This designation was determined through their Accident Statistics Reports.

Public Works Roadeo

The Public Works team surpassed 19 other municipal and municipal district teams in Alberta for their level of skill and expertise demonstrated on heavy equipment and machinery during the Public Works Roadeo.

 

Hot Water Main Tapping Contest

Awarding Organization: Western Canada Water And Wastewater Association (WCWWA)

 

The City of Red Deer Public Works employees received the Hot Water Main Tapping Contest in 2001. In just over three minutes they connected a service line, which typically feeds into homes, to a water main. The work included drilling and installing valves without any leaks or safety violations.

In 1999, Barry Brookes won the Operator of the Year award. This award recognized Barry's hard work, dedication, outstanding motivation, enthusiasm and leadership in the performance of his duties. The Alberta Water Wastewater Operators Association (AWWOA) presents this annual award to the operator who best meets or exceeds the qualifications. Barry Brookes also received the Red Deer Coach of the Year award in 2000. This award is given to a coach for his or her outstanding contributions to athletics and the development of young athletes.

Clarence Cazeimier placed first in the 1992 Provincial Bus Roadeo Championship, and went on to win the National Grand Championship in the Canadian Urban Transit Association National Bus Roadeo. The Bus Roadeo is a skill based obstacle challenge that simulates typical bus driving maneuvers and allows operators the opportunity to demonstrate their skills, as well as challenges them by putting them through some of demanding situations. The event also provides operators the opportunity to sharpen their skills and expand their knowledge through friendly competition.
