On March 12, 2008, The City of Red Deer and Red Deer County announced a new type of cooperative planning process – the Joint Planning Initiative, which will provide the framework for future development in the County and The City’s growth areas.
An open house was held on Saturday, June 21, 2008. This open house was a follow-up from a March 15, 2008 open house. Find below the map and associated feedback document.

During the workshop and open house held in June, it was stated that the next public meeting/open house would be held in mid-October 2008.
Based on that process and the scope of this planning exercise, the draft plan is taking longer than anticipated to complete. The public consultation is now expected to be held in 2009.
