Greater Downtown Action Plan
Red Deer:Charting a New Course
Mayor Morris Flewwelling and City Manager Craig Curtis presented
Red Deer:Charting a New Course
to the Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Wednesday, November 26, 2008.
After presenting the strengths and weaknesses in our community demonstrated through Vital Signs 2008 and the 2008 Ipsos Reid Municipal Quality of Life and Financial Planning survey, the presentation focused on City activities moving our community forward. With a dramatically changing financial climate, The City needs to chart a new course and establish a clear vision to ensure future sustainability.
A number of City planning initiatives are demonstrating Council’s new vision of the future. This presentation focuses on the Greater Downtown Action Plan (GDAP).
The City has a number of capital projects either underway or being planned for. The North Highway Connector is the most expensive capital campaign in The City’s 2008 Capital Budget. This project requires provincial funding and cannot be completed without support from the Province.
