Red Deer City Council adopted The Heritage Management Plan on September 11, 2007 as a planning tool to assist in the conservation of key heritage resources for the enjoyment and benefit of future generations. The plan provides for coordinated community heritage initiatives and strategies to preserve the community’s historical resources.
The plan was developed through extensive public consultation including consultation with heritage stakeholders, focus groups, meetings, interviews, a public open house and public input.
The plan is a partnership between The City of Red Deer and the Province of Alberta. The steering committee was composed of heritage stakeholders, City staff, Parkland Community Planning Services staff, a heritage building owner, City Archivist, Heritage Preservation Committee Chairperson and Main Street Project Coordinator.
