River Valley & Tributaries Park Concept Plan

The River Valley & Tributaries Park Concept Plan, July 2010, was developed to identify lands best suited for potential trails and parks within The City of Red Deer City Growth Area, which includes some land that is currently a part of Red Deer County.

A steering committee – consisting of members from the City of Red Deer Parks Department, Parkland Community Planning Services, Red Deer County, Red Deer River Naturalists, Kerry Wood Nature Centre, and Central Alberta Trail Network – assisted with developing the concept plan.

City Council, on July 26, 2010, adopted the Concept Plan as a planning tool and directed Administration to develop a prioritization plan and implementation strategy. Red Deer County on August 3, 2010 passed a resolution to acknowledge the River Valley & Tributaries Park Concept Plan, with the plan to be used in conjunction with Red Deer County’s Open Space Master Plan as a planning guide for future development.
