Riverlands Area Redevelopment Plan - The City of Red Deer

Due to strong residential, commercial and industrial growth, some City operational departments have outgrown their existing facilities. Because of this, City Council is considering relocating Electric Light and Power, Public Works, Transit and the Parks Maintenance section of Recreation, Parks and Culture to a new site in the Riverside Heavy Industrial area.

If Council approves the relocation of these departments, a large portion of land along the riverbank will be available for new residential, commercial and cultural development as identified in the Riverlands Area Redevelopment Plan.

Stemming from the Greater Downtown Action Plan's (GDAP) focuses on the revitalization of Red Deer's core, the Riverlands Area Redevelopment Plan focuses on redeveloping the area to capitalize on its natural beauty and close proximity to the city's centre.
