Process to Date
The City of Red Deer completed a functional design of intersection and roadway improvements around the intersection of Gaetz Avenue and 32 Street. The functional design includes such things as the number and type of traffic lanes, placement of traffic signals, location of sidewalks and land needed to fit roadway changes.

The City consulted with stakeholders in the area about the proposed changes. This consultation took place during the following meetings and workshops:
  • Initial workshop: April 2007 - Background information and discussion of general issues
  • Follow-up workshop: November 2007 - Review and discuss revised design
  • Workshop: November 2007 - Second review of revised design and response to suggestions and issues.
  • Meeting: December 2007 - Design reviewed and draft recommended
  • January and February 2008: Meetings with individual property owners
  • August 2008 - Tree removal and preliminary utility construction begins
  • March 2009 - Tree removal and widening of 32 Street
Project History

The 2003/2004 Transportation Update was completed in 2004 to identify the required roadway improvements for future growth within the City of Red Deer for the 85,000 and the 115, 000 population horizons. One of the recommendations was to upgrade the Gaetz Avenue / 32 Street intersection.
