The Waskasoo Special Gathering Places plan was approved by City Council as a concept plan in 2005. It is all about enhancing public use and increasing environmental awareness. The plan provides a roadmap for redeveloping key areas in our city’s park system including:
These are some of the largest and most well used areas within Waskasoo Park. Each of these locations provides different natural and recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. Enhancements at Bower Ponds will wrap up in fall 2009, with enhancements at Three Mile Bend just getting underway.Significant public input went into the Waskasoo Park Special Gathering Places recommendations. It provides an evaluation of the current use of Bower Ponds and Three Mile Bend, and also proposes changes to Heritage Ranch and River Bend. It reaffirms current uses and identifies potential alternative future uses for these locations. The plan also considers initiatives to ensure the special gathering places are properly maintained and preserved to make them available for citizens in the future.
