ReThinking Urban Gardens
A new breed of gardener is sprouting up in Red Deer. "Community gardens", "local food", "100-mile diets". It seems like overnight urban gardening has become more than just "the thing your grandparents used to do". And for good reason. In the face of issues like food sovereignty and food security, organic food production is finding its way back into the hands and homes of concerned citizens in Red Deer. This will be an edu-taining evening as we screen a short film on food, ecology, and religion in the 21st century called "A Thousand Suns" followed by a presentation on the need for local food production by Susan Roberts of Growing Food Security in Alberta.
