The City of Red Deer Emergency Management Program is committed to promoting emergency preparedness, hazard and risk awareness and public safety in the community. For this reason, we participate in a number of community events throughout the year.
Let's Talk
"Let's Talk" brings together City departments and services, committees and initiatives in a single location to allow residents an opportunity to discuss their interests, questions and concerns. This event takes place in March every year and alternates between the Bower and Parkland Malls.
Emergency Management participates in "Let's Talk" each year, promoting the 72 Hour Preparedness Program (www.getprepared.ca) as well as other topics of interest including recent emergency events, risk awareness, emergency notification systems and the City's emergency plans and programs.
Central Alberta Emergency Preparedness Day
In 2011, The City of Red Deer's Emergency Management Program partnered with Red Deer County Protective Services to present the first annual Central Alberta Emergency Preparedness Day event at Bower Place Shopping Centre. This event took place on April 30th, 2011 and served as a local kick-off for National Emergency Preparedness Week in Canada.
The City and County were joined by partners from the Red Cross, Salvation Army, St. John Ambulance, Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA), Central Alberta Amateur Radio, Red Deer Search and Rescue, Energy Resource Conservation Board (ERCB), Atco Gas, Canadian Blood Services and Alberta Health Services (AHS).
