Community Plan for Federal Funding

All communities that receive Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) funding are required to complete a Community Plan. The purpose of the plan is to ensure a coordinated response to address the needs of people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and to identify what Housing First looks like in our community.

The Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) Community Plan includes the following components:

  • Current Situation – baseline data about Red Deer’s current homeless population and the community’s readiness to implement a Housing First approach.
  • Planning and Reporting – describes the community plan process and links to other strategies and programs in Red Deer.
  • Priorities – how to invest the HPS funding to address homelessness in Red Deer.

Each year communities have the opportunity to update their HPS Community Plan for federal homelessness funding. This includes summarizing Red Deer’s current situation and progress made towards meeting the 2014-2015 priorities. There is also an opportunity to change the HPS funding priorities for 2015-2016, should there be a need in the community.
