April 1, 2016 2:28 PM

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP and Lacombe Police Service are investigating a series of linked crimes in which a minivan stolen out of Red Deer the night of March 31 was used to steal an ATM from a Lacombe hotel and then set on fire in Red Deer early this morning.

The 1998 green Toyota minivan was reported stolen from the parking lot of Collicutt Centre shortly after 10 pm on March 31; the owner discovered the theft after finding that his locker had been broken into and his vehicle keys taken.

The van was then used by three men who stole an ATM from the lobby of the Lacombe Hotel at approximately 12:30 am on April 1. Two men were observed carrying the machine from the lobby and placing it in the minivan; a third man drove the van, and they were last seen driving west on 50 Avenue in Lacombe.

At 1:45 am on April 1, Red Deer RCMP were called to the scene of a vehicle fire at Taylor Drive and Kerry Wood Drive. On arrival, police determined the vehicle to be the stolen minivan used in the theft at Lacombe Hotel. The fire was extinguished by Red Deer EMS and the stolen ATM was located inside the van.

Please see attached surveillance photos of two suspects during the theft of the ATM.
