Red Deer RCMP arrest three after targeted home invasion

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP have arrested three men after a targeted home invasion with a firearm in the Mountview neighbourhood on August 20.

RCMP responded to the report of a home invasion at 1 pm on August 20, in which three men had entered a home in the area of 36 Street and 41 Avenue and assaulted the male resident as well as threatening him with a firearm. The victim sustained a number of non-life-threatening injuries, and the firearm was discharged inside the residence but didn’t strike anyone. The suspects fled before police arrived, but RCMP confirmed the identities of the three suspects early in the course of the investigation, and confirmed that this was a targeted incident. RCMP issued warrants for the arrest of the three suspects and began the search for them.

On August 26, Red Deer RCMP located Nicholas Galbraith driving a stolen Lincoln Navigator and arrested him in the lobby of a hotel in Gasoline Alley. Police seized a loaded handgun and ammunition from the vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Sylvan Lake on August 14.

30 year old Nicholas Stephen Galbraith faces the following charges:

  • Criminal Code 244(b) – Assault with weapon
  • Criminal Code 267(b) – Assault causing bodily harm
  • Criminal Code 117.01(1) – Possess weapon contrary to court order X 2
  • Criminal Code 86(1) – Careless use of a firearm X 2
  • Criminal Code 87(1) – Pointing a firearm
  • Criminal Code 91(1) – Unauthorized possession of restricted weapon
  • Criminal Code 95(2)(b) – Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Criminal Code 108(1)(b) – Tampering with serial number of firearm
  • Criminal Code 348(1)(b) – Break and enter
  • Criminal Code 264.1(1)(a) – Uttering threats
  • Criminal Code 355(a) – Possession of stolen property over $5,000

Galbraith will appear in Alberta Provincial Court in Red Deer on September 7 at 9:30 am.

On August 26, Red Deer RCMP located Rory Forslund in the Bower neighbourhood and arrested him without incident as he walked in the Bennett Street area. RCMP seized break-in tools and heroin during the arrest.

31 year old Rory Richard Forslund faces the following charges:

  • Criminal Code 348(1)(d) – Break and enter
  • Criminal Code 267(b) – Assault with weapon
  • Criminal Code 267(a) – Assault causing bodily harm
  • Criminal Code 351(1) – Possess break-in instruments
  • CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule 1 drug (heroin)

Forslund will appear in Alberta Provincial Court in Red Deer on September 14 at 9:30 am.

On August 27, Red Deer RCMP arrested James Holt in a residence in the Fairview neighbourhood; he was taken into custody without incident.

33 year old James Ronald Holt faces the following charges:

  • Criminal Code 348(1)(d) – Break and enter
  • Criminal Code 267(b) – Assault with weapon

Holt will appear in Alberta Provincial Court in Red Deer on September 14 at 9:30 am.
