The 55 Street Improvement Project involves the replacement of underground water and sanitary servicing which are over 60 years old and are at capacity. The replacement and upgrades of these lines will support future development in northeast Red Deer, Riverlands and Railyards. The project will also include the rebuilding of sidewalks, new multi-use pathways and slight lane widening.
Saturday, June 27- September 2015:
- 55 Street closed from 48 Avenue to 46 Avenue
Wednesday, July 1 - September 2015:
- 55 Street closed from 46 Avenue to 42 Avenue
- Michener Hill temporarily closed in July
From June 27, 2015 until September, trails on either side of 55 Street near Waskasoo Creek will close for the construction of new sidewalks and multi-use pathways.
Crews will work between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturdays. There may also be work on Sundays. All work will be conducted in accordance with Community Standards Bylaw 3383/2007.
We know it isn’t easy to navigate construction and detours but we hope this information makes it a little easier when the detour signs go up. Directional and detour signage will be posted to tell you and your fellow Red Deerians how to get around construction. Any questions about this project can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
