Extended hours offered at Sorensen Station due to reload station delay

Transit riders using Red Deer’s new prepaid reloadable cards will have to wait a little longer for reloading stations across the city. The MyRide program launched in December offering riders a faster, more environmentally friendly and convenient way to pay for transit.

Due to a hardware issue that the vendor is working to resolve, the reload stations will not be available at sales outlets in January as previously announced. MyRide cards can still be reloaded at Sorensen Station and at City Hall; however, vendors that previously sold Transit passes will not be equipped with the reload stations until the fix is made.

To accommodate the delay, the customer service office at Sorensen Station will have extended hours on the following dates:

  • January 28 & 29 and February 1 to 5 inclusive between 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday January 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

MyRide cards can also be reloaded at City Hall during normal business hours:

  • Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

MyRide cards can be used to pay your fare and can be loaded and reloaded with the many fare types Transit offers on both Red Deer Transit and BOLT buses. The $5 card fee will be waived for MyRide cards purchased before February 12, 2016. Cash fares are still accepted.
