Commercial building permits showed an increase for August 2016 compared to the same month last year. A new Tim Horton’s Restaurant at 110, 6802 50 Avenue, with a permit value of $450,000, contributed to this increase.

A building permit was issued for a value of $360,000 for interior renovations to an existing building at 130, 7474 79 Street to accommodate the manufacturing of lightweight concrete block. In addition, Bredin College received a building permit for a $280,000 renovation to the Collins Barrow Centre (5010 43 Street) to allow for new classroom and office space on the fifth floor.

In the public service sector, a $100,000 building permit was issued for a single storey modular at Barrie Wilson Elementary School in Timberlands.
