UPDATE: From January to June 2017, Industrial and Public categories were overlooked in error due to a change in the method of reporting. Please visit this page for corrected numbers.

Despite strong residential building, overall building permit values were lower last month compared to March 2016.

Residential permits were valued at $2.5 million in March compared to nearly $3 million the same time last year. Commercial permits were valued at $5.5 million, down from $12 million in March 2016.

Significant projects include improvements to Great Chief Park for the 2019 Canada Winter Games, including a new recreation facility addition, complete with pavilion, garage, artificial turf field and a skating oval, set at $3.5 million. Interior renovations to the Real Canadian Wholesale Club on 67 Street, and upgrades to the interior and exterior of the McDonald’s on 52 Avenue are also notable.

Monthly permit statistics are available on The City’s website at: Red Deer Open Data Catalogue
