Boil water advisory in effect for all of West Park and West Lake

August 23, 2017 1:16 PM
(Red Deer, Alberta)

Following a drop in water pressure this morning, The City has issued precautionary boil water advisory for the neighbourhoods of West Park and West Lake.

Affected residents and businesses will be notified by hand delivered notices. Electronic sign boards will also be used in affected areas. An emergency notification will be sent to affected residents using Notify Red Deer, The City's emergency notification system.

Residents are asked to boil their water for drinking, cooking, washing food, or brushing teeth. The water can be made safe by boiling it for at least one minute at a rolling boil. Boiled water should be stored in a clean container in the refrigerator. Alternatively, bottled water can be used.

The Boil Water Advisory will be in place until water tests confirm that there is no contamination.

City of Red Deer employees will deliver notices door-to-door to affected homes and businesses when the advisory is lifted, and electronic sign boards will be updated.

Visit reddeer.ca/boilwater for a map of affected addresses.

Residents can sign up to receive text, email and phone notifications at reddeer.ca/notifyreddeer.
